The Manning Family
Henry Manning was the well-known manufacturer of prefrabricated houses that many pioneer emigrants to South Australia. Although there have been many studies of the design and construction of the houses, relatively little is known of Henry Manning himself.
Henry Manning was baptised at St Mary, Lambeth, on 13 January 1799, the son of John and Ann Manning. He followed in his father's footsteps as a carpenter and builder at 251 High Holborn, London, though later he became a merchant dealing in Australian goods.
He died on 15 December 1851 at 251 High Holborn, a quite wealthy man.
